After 7 years of service by Dr. Raegan Higgins as the EDGE Co-Director, she will be stepping down in September. Dr. Higgins will continue to be actively involved with all aspects of EDGE. The EDGE Foundation is deeply thankful for Dr. Higgins’ leadership for the last 7 years as her efforts directly supported and inspired more than 100 graduate students and early-career professionals who participated in the EDGE Summer Program.

We are happy to announce Dr. Candice Price as the new EDGE Summer Program Co-Director. Dr. Candice Price has been praised for her advocacy and mentoring efforts to increase diversity in STEM fields. She has been part of the EDGE family since 2012, when she was an EDGE mentor during our Summer Program. Since 2012, she has actively supported our efforts as a faculty mentor during the Summer Program and as an advocate for women and minority students in mathematics.

Some of Dr. Price’s most notable efforts include the co-founding of the website Mathematically Gifted & Black, where the life and work of modern-day Black mathematicians are highlighted, and the Underrepresented Students in Topology and Algebra Research Symposium (USTARS), an annual multi-day symposium started in 2011 that highlights graduate students’ research in algebra and topology. Among the numerous awards she has received is the 2022 Mathematics Association of America Inclusivity Award.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Candice Price as the new co-director of the EDGE Summer Program and are certain that she will further broaden our impact on the mathematics field.
